NYSE insider Jay Woods on the most important market-moving events ahead this


Jay Woods, who has spent more than three decades on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange, discusses what the pros are watching in the markets this week. The chief market strategist at Freedom Capital Markets touches on: Nvidia’s earnings Wednesday after the bell. Woods notes that the stock is “only” up 37% in the past year, not as much as you would think given it’s AI leadership position. This raises the stakes for the report. How Friday’s core PCE number, the Fed’s preferred inflation gauge, could be more important than Nvidia’s results for the markets given that the bull run got its latest lift from Friday’s dovish Jackson Hole speech from Chair Jerome Powell. Economists polled by Dow Jones are expecting a 2.9% annual increase for July. It can’t come in any hotter than that, said Woods.
